You can access the RPS mentor database by completing a 'Find a
mentor' form and agreeing to the mentoring terms and conditions. We have
mentors in all sectors and at every level of practice for all
Once you register as a mentee, you will see a list of mentors who match
your criteria with their email addresses. You can then choose
your mentor. Once the mentor accepts your request, you are able to
develop the type of mentoring support you need, in a way that suits you
both. To help us evaluate the success of our database, you will be
invited to provide feedback after six months.
How do I join the mentoring scheme as a mentee?
You can register as a mentee through our database by clicking the mentoring tab on the Networks homepage or someone through your Local Practice Forum or through a virtual network.
In order to become a mentee, you need to fill out our Find a mentor form
online. First, you'll need to accept the terms and conditions of using
the service. We'll then ask you to fill out some personal details such
as your name, details and job title. In step 2, you'll be asked
about any sectors of interest and your current employment status. We'll
also ask you why you are looking for a mentor in step 3. In the last
them, we'll enquire about how you would prefer to conduct your mentoring
and in what format.
How do I become a mentor?
We offer a number of opportunities for you to become a mentor locally
or virtually. If you want to support pharmacists in your expert area of
practice, you can register as a mentor on our database and specify the type and location of mentoring. If you're looking for mentor development events, your local practice forum is the place to go.
When registering as a mentor through the RPS Mentoring service, you'll
need to accept the terms and conditions of using the service. We'll then
ask you to fill out some personal details such as your name,
details and job title. In step 2, you'll be asked about any previous
experience with mentoring and your sector of work; you can expand upon
this in step 3. You'll also be able to specify what you'd like to be
able to work with a mentee about, e.g. talking through specific issues
or developing a career plan. We'll then ask you about how you would
prefer to conduct your mentoring and in what format.
Searching for a mentor
You can find a mentor by registering on the RPS mentor database.
If you receive more than one match, we advise you to email each of
your matched mentors explaining the type of support you are looking for
and ask them to respond with what they are able to offer in the way of
mentorship. This will enable you to choose your best match. Once you
have found your mentor, please email the others who were matched to say
that you will not be proceeding with the mentoring relationship as you
have found a suitable mentor.
If you fail to come up with a match and have tried widening your search, please call our Support Team to help you with your search. You can also make a posting on relevant RPS networks (but this is not confidential).
