Please see an opportunity to take part in an important research questionnaire around the use of New Psychoactive Substances. This work is being undertaken by colleagues working in conjunction with the West Yorkshire Local Practice Forum.
The significant informational, promotional and distributional capacity of the internet plays an important role in the New Psychoactive Substances (NPS - legal high) market. NPS/'legal highs' are therefore largely available online and thus ‘just a click’ away from our homes and potentially available to everyone, including children and adolescents. NPS are associated with toxicity presentations to hospital emergency departments, mental health units and sexual health and addiction clinics.
The aim of the survey is to explore the knowledge about the NPS phenomenon by healthcare professionals and to develop new prevention and harm reduction strategies. In this particular instance, we are seeking to obtain information specifically from UK pharmacists and nurses. This survey forms part of the wider research activities of the Psychopharmacology, Drug Misuse and Novel Psychoactive Substances Research Unit of the University of Hertfordshire.
This work aims are “to monitor, test, profile, and feed back into education and prevention knowledge relating to the types of NPS emerging in Europe, their associated characteristics and potential harms”. The knowledge of those in the medical and allied health professions, including pharmacists and nurses.
We would be very grateful if you could take part in this survey which can be done by following this link:
